We're a Perth family. Our first short-term stay properties were in Melbourne — then we wanted more, so we moved to Bali, Indonesia, and built from here. We now run in the Philippines too.

Our story

We started in Melbourne. We moved for the growth.

Redoubt MGMT is an Australian business. We're a Perth family, and the first properties we ever owned and ran were short-term stays in Melbourne — the kind of work that teaches you quickly, because a guest's bad weekend and an owner's bad year are usually the same problem.

We liked the work and we wanted more of it. Bali gave us room to grow that Melbourne couldn't, so we packed up and moved to Indonesia — not as a change of scenery, but as the next ten years.

That growth hasn't stayed in one place. We now run in the Philippines as well, which keeps our judgement honest: what works in Bali doesn't automatically work elsewhere, and we'd rather test that ourselves than repeat it to you.

What came with us is the habit. A property isn't a brochure — it's a thing that has to work on a Tuesday afternoon when nobody is watching. We'd rather take on fewer and look after them properly than grow faster than we can hold.

Homesafe Villas

We own and run our own villas and hostels, in Bali and the Philippines

Alongside the investment work we own and operate our own portfolio of villas and hostels under the name Homesafe Villas. It runs right across Bali and into the Philippines, so we're not reading this market from a desk — we carry the same costs, the same upkeep and the same guest expectations you'd be taking on.

Homesafe Villas is where the figures in our advice come from — our own money, our own properties, our own neighbours.

  • Our advice comes from properties we actually run, not ones we only list.
  • Daily operations are our own headache — staffing, upkeep and the slow season included.
  • Occupancy and running costs for us are real figures, not estimates.
